Call for Attendees: Food for Thoughts Artists' Talks
This summer we will be bringing you 5 artists in 3 artists' talks as part of this discussion series! Each talk aims to prompt critical discussions surrounding art practices while sharing food:
Geneviève Brideau & Parker Houghtaling
ARTFAT- Taking our fat bodies back from the clutches of semiotics
23 July 2017
Cinthia Arias Auz & rudi aker
19 August 2017
Annie Onyi Cheung
Waking Dreams of Chinatown, Somewhere Around Here
26 August 2017
This summer we are centring QTBIPOC, POC, and LGBTQ2SIA+ voices as artists speaking in the series and talk attendees! If you self-identify as any of the above, and would like to sign up for one of the talks please email Camila at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, preferred talk, and dietary restrictions. Please keep in mind that conversations will be recorded and turned into podcast episodes to be released through the year. The talks are free, but due to limited space, we need you to RSVP as soon as possible. Attendees will be chosen on a first-come first-serve basis.
Since Eyelevel is a spaceless artist-run-centre, we rely on outdoor, borrowed, and rented spaces. If you would like to know more about the venue for the event you will be attending, feel free to email us.
Food For Thoughts (FFT) is Eyelevel’s discussion series which was started in the summer of 2016. Back for a second year, through this program Eyelevel is aiming to de-centre western notions of what an artist-talk looks and sounds like. As a gallery-less artist-run centre we prioritize programs that take the visual arts into the public sphere. Through off-site talks, potluck picnics, podcast episodes, a publication, and a picnic starter pack, FFT aims to prompt critical discussions surrounding art practices while sharing food.
